Abstract EN

The written folklore is one of the pillars of the Algerian folklore, for it plays an important role in the transfer and the preservation of tangible and intangible folklore from generation to generation.

thus, in addition to the various folklore materials found in different Algerian regions, other forms of heritage elements are recorded in some manuscripts, archives and pamphlets and their presence in the writings of orientalists in particular, is certain as they were writing, documenting and collecting everything they saw and heard in those Algerian regions.

from this perspective we aim, in this research paper, to highlight the role played by these orientalists.

in order to focus more on the value of these writings and their relationship to preserving folklore, we read a thematic classification of a group of articles that dealt with the forms of folklore, both tangible and intangible, in some periodicals issued in the colonial period, through which we perceive the richness of our folklore and reveal the topics that received orientalists' greatest attention.
