Abstract EN

The objective of this study is to shed light on the cognitive transformations that have taken place in western poetic theory through various eras .the features of poetic theory have been established twenty centuries ago in the Greeks, but they have not yet undergone fundamental transformations generated by changes in the contemporary cognitive structure of western thought; neither epic nor drama is the textual basis of poetry, but contemporary poetry has been based on systematic perceptions and cognitive foundations generated by the contemporary western tendency towards the negation of metaphysics and the establishment of the character of secularism, and exact sciences.

to this end, this study will examine the features of the poetic theory of Aristotle, the Russian formalists, Todorov, and Michonik's historical poetry.
