This study was intended to examine the weaknesses of written expression in university students and their various types of spelling, grammatical, verbal and compositional.

at a sample of students from the Arabic language and literature department of university al-Arabi Bin Mahidi Oum el-Bouaghi, and trying to find the reasons for this weakness, reform exists only through awareness of the root causes of problems and their emergence.

the study found that the vulnerability of students is not limited to the grammatical aspect only.

their vulnerability is the result of poor academic achievement gained by students during pre-university education.
