“Sapir-Whorf” hypothesis is an anthropo-linguistic hypothesis according to which the language of each society conditions its culture.

therefore, the system of our mental representations of the world is causally linked to the categories of our language.

this hypothesis, which seems to be revolutionary in relation to structural and descriptive linguistics, is based on two principles: the first is that the culture of each society is conditioned by its language; the second is that thought is framed by the language which expresses it.

these two principles are opposed to the classical conception of language.

it follows that the diversity of languages necessarily leads to the diversity of the mental and affective structures of nations.

we will try to show the epistemological value of this hypothesis, which aims to adapt linguistics as a methodological approach in anthropological studies.

so,: to what extent has this hypothesis approached anthropological issues and concretized its epistemological issues?
