This header belongs to qualitative studies; its general goal is to identify the way in which the phenomenon of Islamophobia was addressed in French cinema through Soumaya.

This study adopted the semiological approach by employing the Roland-Bart approach.

The importance of this study lies in the fact that the film deals with the issue of Islamophobia by shedding light on the suffering of Muslims in France after the declaration of the state of emergency in November 2015.

It is considered the first French movie that deals with Islamophobia from this angle.

Our study reached a set of results, the most important of which is that the film focuses heavily on institutional Islamophobia, which was evident in the house raids.

Muslims are dismissed from their work positions and accused of extremism and terrorism...

The film encourages Muslims to defend themselves by going to the judiciary, and not allowing state institutions to exclude them socially.
