Abstract EN

This research paper seeks to study the issue of the electoral issue and the conditions for candidacy in municipal elections with full powers.

It also targets the tasks assigned to the Algerians after obtaining the seats (the Municipal Council, the General Council, the Financial Council) under the control of the colonial regime.

We will focus in our research on the prefecture of Oran, which included a large number of municipalities with full powers in the period between 1868 AD, until the elections of 1947 AD.

Through this, he sought to identify the reality, trends, and behavior of voters.

They lean on a number of historical writings by specialists, as well as the journalistic ones that covered the electoral event and which gave us the names of the candidates, the number of positions they won and the circumstances of the electoral campaign.

As well as archival documents and distinguished scholarly articles that dealt with part of the topic of local elections in Algeria during the colonial period.

These sources helped us describe the process of the electoral event and the political awareness within the fully-powered municipalities that were almost completely under the control of the Europeans.
