Abstract EN

The European perspective of illegal immigration carries several contradictions and also a sort of duplicity that leads to sustain and even spread the phenomenon.

On one side, Europe implemented a set of regulations to limit illegal immigration considering it a serious societal threat, by founding independent specialized agencies to face this problem, through enforcing european borders, in addition to settling on bilateral agreements with source countries.

On another side, Europe Follows less restricted facilitations to illegal immigrants, due to the fact that european countries need them as a working force, in the different sectors of economic activities, especially with the high levels of aging that threaten european societies, basically because of low rates of fertility.

Besides, the reluctant behavior of europeans towards mainly hard jobs.

As a result, the phenomenon of illegal immigration is continuing because of the lack of a real European political will to solve this problem, that results in draining of more developmental potentials from source countries.
