The historical research method is one of the most applied methods in scientific research, but in other side, it is almost the least clear in its concept.

Many researchers applied historical method as an act of gathering informations and achieved it from its resources, then reordering it to realise a good research, being suitable to the subject.

But in fact, the historical research method has steps that must be applied correctly, in order to the completed research be a new addition to knowledge, and a good contribution from the researcher to diagnose the past for the purpose of knowing the present.

Therefore, this research paper aims to introduce the historical method and show its role and importance in scientific research.
