The hammam is one of important spaces that constitute the Arab and Islamic city, as it acquires an important and symbolic position with profound significance in the daily life of individuals.

It was generated from water symbolism as it hides behind the walls of its halls.

The hammam is not only an architectural heritage, but it is a semantic field nourished by social and cultural perceptions and representations as well.

Where it constitutes a gathering of the biological body and the rituals of caring for it, through which the religious and worldly duality are embodied, then it turns into a space that contains the social and cultural body through the weaving of social relations and the revival of beliefs and treatment practices when the bathroom becomes a dumb doctor where multiple different roles.

In order to approach the hammam symbolism in the Arab and Islamic culture, we base our analyses by highlighting main studies and literates treating this social and cultural space that we name it an anthropological reading of the hammam symbolism through exposing the status of the hammam in the Arab culture and its roles and sequences drawn in the memory of individuals
