The French historical studies on the Algerian desert, especially those related to the southwest through the interests of explorers, scholars, clergy and some political and military leaders, summarized their historical writings about the colonial incursions in the Algerian desert and the most important difficulties they faced in the expansion and occupation operations.

Among these writings that gave attention to the south The Algerian western book: What we tried to study and know the most important topics it included and how to study the desert from a colonial vision and the most important results.
