Abstract EN

This study deals with an aspect of the royal Numidian architecture which some considered from ancient monuments in a peripheral region of the ancient Mediterranean world.

This is due to the enormous Roman heritage that obscured it.

But its architectural quality and huge dimensions made it visible from afar.

Thus, the mausoleums are considered as the most important remaining monuments of the Numidian architecture, the monuments that have preserved their original states.

And some of the models have reached a high artistic level.

Perhaps among the most important and oldest ones is the tomb of the Madghacen in “Batna”; a city in the Aures region of Algeria.

The importance of this mausoleum lies in the fact that it contains Hellenistic architectural elements unprecedented in the architecture of the western Mediterranean world at that time
