The influence of Montaigne is fully assumed by the American writer Aciman, and if the alibis collection, by its form, would readily lend itself to a study of borrowing, the traces of the French renaissance writer in Aciman are nevertheless met in a much more interesting way in the fiction novel call me by your name, published in 2007.
between a writing imbued with nostalgia, the omnipresence of the ancients, a constant immersion in the reflection of oneself and of the other, without forgetting the direct references, Montaigne seems to have truly found a place in this fictional work of 21st century American homoerotic learning.
after analyzing the text, we will see if we can talk of rewriting or if, on the contrary, it is a question of appropriation.
we will also wonder about the following question : do Aciman's borrowings do justice to Montaigne, who himself had discoursed on his tendency to glean from the ancients any element that would serve his purpose ?

L’influence de Montaigne est pleinement assumée par l'écrivain américain Aciman, et si le recueil Alibis, de par sa forme, se prêterait volontiers à une étude de l’emprunt, les traces de l’écrivain français de la Renaissance chez Aciman se rencontrent néanmoins de façon bien plus intéressante dans le roman de fiction Call Me By Your Name, publié en 2007.
entre une écriture empreinte de nostalgie, l’omniprésence des Anciens, une immersion constante dans la réflexion de soi et de l’autre, sans oublier les références directes, Montaigne semble avoir véritablement trouvé place dans cette oeuvre fictionnelle d’apprentissage homoérotique américaine du 21ème siècle.
après analyse du texte, nous verrons si nous pouvons parler de réécriture ou bien s’il s’agit au contraire d’appropriation.
nous nous interrogerons également sur la question suivante : les emprunts d’Aciman font-ils justice à Montaigne, qui avait lui-même discouru sur sa tendance à glaner chez les Anciens tout élément qui servirait son propos ?
