Abstract EN

This study aims to research the role of endowment services in the Levant during the Mamluk era (648-923 ah / 1260-1516 ad), it sheds light on the pivotal role played by the endowment services, especially when it expanded to include various social services such as: caring for the poor, orphans and widows and the establishment of various guest houses marrying bachelors, in addition to taking care of prisoners, providing them with social care, providing drinking water, paving roads, supporting expatriate science students and other services in which the endowment played a major role.

the results of this study confirmed that endowment services in the Levant touched various contexts of social life, and included many segments of society, and the religious aspect had a distinct role in reviving the activity of these endowment services through the humanistic view of Islam and its call for social solidarity among members of the same society.
