Abstract EN

The study dealt with the papacy’s contribution to the steadfastness of the crusader countries in the Levant, especially after the Muslims’ recapture of Jerusalem and the failure of the third crusade.

indeed, the crusaders in the east became in need of papacy, its capabilities, and its assistance so that the countries could continue in the east.

accordingly this historical study came to search for the truth of the efforts and role of the papacy as a religious institution that called for military wars against Muslim countries during the second century of the crusades phase, that is, the thirteenth century ad.

seventh Hijri.

it became clear to us that despite the success achieved by the papacy in supporting the crusader emirates, it continued for another century, especially after the Muslims recovered Jerusalem in 583 AH / 1187 AD.

however, its bitter and long struggle with the empire made them the two biggest reasons for the demise of the crusader emirates in the Levant ..
