after Italy was supportive of the French position on the ongoing revolution in Algeria on the basis that it was an internal French problem, its position witnessed a change, especially after the events created by the liberation revolution, such as the eight-day strike and the bombing of Sidi Youssef's Sakiet, and the activity of the diplomatic national liberation front at the united nations, Italian public opinion stood in support of the revolution, in contrast to the official position of the Italian government, which remained conservative in its support for the French thesis until the last negotiations of Evian and the independence of Algeria.
