Blockchain technology is a promising emerging technology that, despite its popularity in cryptocurrencies, contains verifiable, time-stamped records to confirm the content of users' transactions without the need for a third party.

The study presents the concept of Blockchain technology, its conceptual development since its inception until now, its components and mechanism of work, its importance, types, and the opportunities it provides.

The study also deals with this technology in the area of library and information in terms of: whether it provides solutions or problems, its importance in libraries, the possible cases of using this technology in library operations, and the obstacles and challenges that hinder the implementation of it by libraries.

Although the technology is still in its evolution stage, it has the potential to be used in libraries in linking checkout records to records of this technology, and the ability to influence and transform the work of libraries, such as information storage and organization, maintaining collections, exchanging information, and others.

Libraries don't have much information about the true cost of developing solutions and the challenges they face.

With the implementation of technology applications in libraries remains at the conceptual level.

Libraries should think about the applications of this technology and be keen to learn and experiment at the local or global level and provide more ideas and studies in order to develop these applications.

As well as working on awareness and education of employees of this technology and its applications.
