Abstract EN

The relationship between novels and history has become a point of debate among researchers and critics of all backgrounds and ideologies.

this odd relationship spurred many questions and gave birth to what came to be called the "historical novel".

in this regard, "el-Amir" Arabic for : " the prince", by Wassin Ilaradj has established itself as one of the most important modern historical novels.

this work took actual history as its framework and the solid ground over which this novel weaves its imaginary stories.

history is an actual real discourse while novels are creative and artistic.

building on this relationship, the present article aims at tracking the intersections and / or the blending of what is historical and what pertains to novels within the work of Laradj.

this can be achieved through drawing the lines between imagining historical events and their different manners of interpretation on the one hand, and the conflict that might arise between novels and historical discourse on the other.

this article also explores and describes the two in relation to Wassini Laradj's "book of the prince".
