French colonialism has worked to eradicate the Algerian Islamic identity, and has tampered with its basic foundations by shaking the pillars of the correct faith.

indeed, it attempted to replace the Arabic language with French, distancing generations from the language of the ancestors to become expatriates in their homeland.

however, Allah the almighty fulfilled his promise to send the reformers, as mentioned in the hadith, to revive religion and the Arab Islamic nation, removing the blemishes that befell the nation as a result of the evils of colonialism.

hence, sheikh el-Bachir el-Ibrahimi came to fight colonial evils through his writings, speeches, and efforts to reform Algerian society.

thus, the present paper attempts to put flesh on the bones of the following questions : how important is the presence of cultural identity in maintaining the sustainability of society ? how did the writings of el-Bachir el-Ibrahimi contribute to the restoration of the pillars of Algerian identity ? with what awareness did Ibrahimi deal with the issue of cultural identity ? .
