Abstract EN

This paper deals with the evaluation of the experience of opening Islamic windows in traditional banks, recently conducted in the Algerian banking system.

this experience comes up as a recognition of the feasibility of Islamic finance and goes along with the desire of large segments of Algerian society to find a legitimate alternative to traditional banking.

the research tried to identify the benefits and drawbacks of this experience from both the employees and customers' opinions by following a descriptive and analytical approach based on a field study on a sample of traditional banks that opened Islamic windows in Oran city.

through two questionnaires prepared for this purpose, the study concluded that despite the desirability of this experience ; and which has been marked by a significant demand for Islamic financial products, many drawbacks were recorded.

on top of these disadvantages were legal drawbacks represented in the absence of a legislative and legal system that are compatible with the specificities of Islamic banking.

other disadvantages were legitimacy's drawbacks related to compliance with the controls of Islamic law, and human intakes related to the education or training of employees, in addition to other intakes related to the macroeconomic environment surrounding these windows.
