Abstract EN

The objective of this article is to study the efficiency of the Algerian industrial sector in its twelve branches, except for the two branches of hydrocarbons and petroleum industry, with defining within the same framework the reference branches of the sector.

using one of the modern quantitative methods namely the data envelope analysis, in two models : (CRS), (VRS) with output oriented.

two inputs were selected : intermediate consumption, personnel expense.

and three outputs : value added, net operating surplus, raw product.

in order to determine the input and output models it was relied on data of economic accounts prepared by the Algerian national statistics office for the period : 2018-2020.

results revealed that the branches of the Algerian industrial sector that achieved economical technical efficiency and scale optimum efficiency complete are: building materials and glass, construction and public works, various industry.

while the rest of the branches recorded good to medium economical technical efficiency and scale optimum efficiency in the study period.

and the reference branches of the sector it was those branches that manage their resources in the most optimal way possible to achieve the goal of maximizing outputs, which are the branches : building materials and glass, construction and public works, various industry.
