The study attempts to shed light on the conflict over the waters of international rivers, and what is related to the divergence of visions among the river countries on issues of water sharing and ways to settle these issues, as well as to stand on the factors causing conflicts over the waters of international rivers in view of the effects and repercussions on the national and water security of the downstream countries, Therefore, we find attempts and concerted regional and international efforts to regulate the waters of international rivers and create a system that guarantees full benefit for all and avoid conflicts over water.

Several attempts have also been made to codify customary and international rules related to international rivers and watercourses.

All of the above was based on the Renaissance Dam and the Egyptian-Ethiopian conflict as a case study.
