The trends of intellectual resistance to French colonialism varied in Algeria during the first half of the twentieth century.

one group struggled for complete independence from France, while another group chose the path of integration with it, while a group of Algerians chose the path of social and educational reform as a way that must be taken to reach the goal.

and Abdul Hamid Ibn Badis represents the pioneer of the reformist trend in Algeria, as he reached-along with a group of scholars of the nation-that the correct way to achieve independence-even if it was long-is to reform the situation of Algerians socially and educationally after ignorance and superstitions spread among them that were exploited by the colonizer in consolidating its foundations, the right way to liberate the homeland is to liberate the minds.
