The digital revolution in the modern era brought about a great change in the field of the lexical industry, as it became necessary for lexicographers to think about building a computer lexicon that meets the requirements of this era and the needs of users in a dress of speed and interactivity that is missing in paper dictionaries.

among the serious attempts is Sakhr's electronic dictionary ....

and accordingly we will try to answer the following questions : does Sakhr's famous "contemporary dictionary" have the features that qualify it to be a good model for the Arabic computer lexical industry ? we have concluded that despite the shortcomings that surround the contemporary dictionary from Sakhr, it has the qualities that make it able to serve the Arabic language in its computer aspect, especially if it is updated periodically.
