Abstract EN

The present study investigates the incompetency of language employed in modern Arabic poetry as significantly demonstrated in multiple poetic texts.

the study is divided into an introduction, three sections and a conclusion.

the first section is concerned with preoccupation with poetic content and repetition as a factor of language deficit.

the second section deals with looks at the pragmatic linguistic failure in communicating poets' visions and thoughts.

the third section discusses the measures and strategies adopted by poets to deal with such linguistic incompetency.

stylistic analysis of intertextual poetic readings was followed in this paper.

the study revealed that poets, in voicing language obscurity, were met with two problems.

the first obstacle was repetitive poetic topics, making difficult for poets to come up with updated expressions up to expectations.

the second hindrance was that linguists did not contribute to solving the problem of difficult terms poets encounter in their experience thus making it hard to convey ideas vividly and powerfully.

it is concluded that poetry is replete with issues and questions over language incompetency, language composition feasibility and suggesting a linguistic style to overcome such deficit and failure.
