Abstract EN

The present study investigates cultural criticism, as a new approach which raises the topic of the cultural patterns in the novel’s discourse.

Abdullah al-Ghathami laid the foundations for this Arab critical orientation with a method quoting its sources from the Western studies, thus cultural criticism -at the Arabic level-engaged in recent critical battles at both the theoretical and practical levels.

This study aims at identifying what is labelled as cultural in contemporary Moroccan novel narrative discourse and its hidden aesthetic patterns.

the study is divided into an introduction, and three sections.

the first section dealt with the emergence of cultural criticism as a historical reaction.

the second section addressed the concept of cultural criticism according based on AlGhathami's perspective.

the third section discussed the theme of contrast patterns in contemporary moroccan novel.

the study showed that there were such patterns with hidden marginal discourse in contemporary moroccan novel, disclosed by cultural criticism mechanisms.
