Abstract EN

The study aims to identify the poetic text structure implications in Yousif al-Arif's (the pandemic : Covid-19-driven poetic quintets) poetic collection.

following a stylistic approach, the study consists of an introduction, two sections and a conclusion.

the introduction presents a general overview of poetic structure.

the first section deals with the nominal patterns, while the second section discusses the verbal structures.the study revealed that the poet was possessed by a sense of melancholy and agony as result of isolation at home and travel restrictions for fear of contracting covid-19.

despite the pandemic-induced pain inflicted on the poet, he remained optimistic, trying to induce a sense of optimism among others, invoking good recollections of the old golden days and blessings including good health, freedom and ease of movement and travel.

the pandemic impact was present either implicitly or explicitly in al Arif's poetic text, projecting the extent of panic and fear which possessed the poet, community and the world alike.
