This paper argues that the crisis situation in the eastern Mediterranean has been exacerbated and more complex by two distinct geopolitical developments, namely the exploration of new gas fields and the Libyan conflict, and it also confirms that this crisis is more dangerous than previous conflicts, due to the power vacuum created by the united states of America, by reducing its regional role in the eastern Mediterranean and the middle east; this should be a call to the European union to play a greater role in calming the crisis.

the paper will be concluded with a set of recommendations that the disputing parties must implement to activate the exit mechanisms from the current crisis in the region.
