A novel is to build an imagined world that sometimes derives its material from the real world by leaking knowledge, information, philosophies, cultures and sometimes by being separate from it, and the construction process requires elements that no "writer" can work without while at the same time cannot be excluded or reduced by the presence of any one of them.

which are : the characters, events, time and place, which interact with each other to weave an integrated plot, and the latter “place” is one of the elements bearing the weight and dimensions of "psychological, social, aesthetic and cultural" nature for the rest of the elements as it is an incubator of events, and the characters interact by crossing its geography and documented time.

this study highlighted the authority of the “place” in the novel “the name of the rose” by Umberto eco, where he made him the engine of events in the construction of a novel and involved a number of cultural patterns embedded and visible.
