Abstract EN

This research stops at the disagreement of historians of Algerian literature on the issue of the origin of the short story, as it is a strong and prominent difference between Omar Ibn Qina -on the one hand- who dates the short story and believes that its first roots go back to the year 1908, and sheds light on the Maqama which he considers a short story.

he does not focus on the formal aspect, but rather gives great importance to the general goal and depth of analysis.

on the other hand, the rest of the historians, led by al-Disi, who believes that the Maqamah is not a short story.
