Abstract EN

This article attempts to highlight the role of Arabic language in the development of the national identity.

Arabic is one of the finest languages in the globe because it is the language of the Quran, and it shapes the cultural identity of the members of society as well as part of their personality and identity.

One of its functions is that it preserves individuals' thinking, the heritage, historical monuments, authenticity and scientific knowledge of society.

Arabic is not only the language of literature and poetry, but it is the language of science and knowledge and hard work is required to revive it by renewing its words and vocabulary as required by the technological age and urban progress, and to set an example for us.

In this study we drew on the historical curriculum to list the most important historical attitudes and stations known by Arabic language in its golden age and then mentioned the reasons for its setback.

Finally, we found that the strength of society, its development, the degree of cohesion of its members, their identity and their unity are the power to preserve their native language
