The immense and ambivalent desert is omnipresent in the texts of Malika Mokeddem.
For the writer, this mythical space and beyond its topographic representation, symbolizes wandering and the quest for an identity and a home.
Through his writing, Mokeddem perpetuates his spatial and spiritual nomadism and follows in the footsteps of his ancestors.
In this article, we propose a reading of the writer's last novel, La Désirante that is centered on the symbolism of the space of the Desert, insofar as this notion allows access to the total meaning of the work.

Le désert, immense et ambivalent, est omniprésent dans les textes de Malika Mokeddem.
Pour l'écrivaine, cet espace mythique et au-delà de sa représentation topographique, symbolise l'errance et la quête d'une identité et d'un chez– soi.
A travers son écriture, Mokeddem perpétue son nomadisme spatial et spirituel et part sur les traces de ses ancêtres.
Dans cet article, nous proposons une lecture du dernier roman de l'écrivaine, La désirante, centrée sur la symbolique de l'espace du Désert, dans la mesure où cette notion permet un accès à la signification totale de l'œuvre.
