This article aims to define the concept of the crime of genocide and the role of the international criminal courts in addressing it.

genocide is one of the most serious types of international crimes ever as it affects human dignity.

it is a relatively recent crime and has certain characteristics, the most important of which is that it is an international crime, an independent crime, and a collective crime..

genocide also has a moral, material and international element.

the genocide has its historical roots, but it developed greatly during the twentieth century, and the great losses that resulted from the two devastating world wars.

hence, talking about this issue is very important in order to contribute to activating the relevant international courts for it to implement penalties against the perpetrators of this type of crime.

such studies are a contribution in this regard.
