The term virility at Al-Asma'i means a fixed critical principle, It was taken as a critical criterion for the balance between many poets and the preference for some of them through their poetic production as well as the criteria for requiring their availability in the poet, then he looked in the production from many chapters, such as abundance, diversity, and past, and the poet in terms of his lack of formulation, mastery, knowledge of it and other matters of poetry that reach its owner to the status of virility.

They are matters that revolve around the temporal and spatial environment and the poet’s ability, his property, and culture.

Perhaps Al-Asma`i was able to evaluate the poets in light of ("virility) as he selected the strong poet in the possession of this term the corner of the language and the rhetorical aptitude and poetry from among the list of Arab poets, then he took off the title of virile.

With the restriction of the term to the Bedouin pre-Islamic poet.
