Cambodia has known many milestones in its modern history, such as the French occupation in the second half of the nineteenth century, the attainment of independence in the mid twentieth century, the occurrence of a military coup in the seventies that left important results, and the outbreak of a civil war between the enemies for a period of five years.

The victims, and ending with the bloodiest phase that Cambodia has known throughout its long history, which was represented by the takeover of the Khmer Rouge organization with radical leftist ideas in the country since the middle of the seventh decade and continuing to its end, as Cambodia lost a significant proportion of its population, due to the policy of genocide against Cambodian people.
