Abstract EN

The study aims to identify the competencies required for research in deriving the educational contents from the Holy Quran in Islamic education research.

The researcher used the descriptive approach, and applied the study’s questionnaire to a random sample of (63) members of the academic staff in Saudi universities, who specialize in the fundamentals of Islamic education.

The study used arithmetic means to measure the degree of the sample members’ consent to the questionnaire items.

T-test and ANOVA tests were used to detect the significance of the statistical differences according to the study variables.

The results showed consent of the academic staff in the departments of fundamentals of education in Saudi universities to the competencies required for research in deriving the educational contents from the Holy Qur’an in Islamic education research, with an arithmetic mean of (4.72).

The cognitive competencies to derive the educational contents from the Holy Qur’an got the highest arithmetic mean of (4.77), followed by the skill competencies in formulating the educational contents, with an arithmetic mean of (4.74), and finally the skill competencies to derive the educational contents from the Holy Qur’an, with an arithmetic mean of (4.68).

The results also showed that there were no differences in the responses of the study sample due to the difference of sex, while there were differences due to the difference in scientific degree in favor of the academic staff at the rank of professor and associate professor.
