Abstract EN

The French colonizer realized, in the onset of world war I, that its urgent need for human and material resources from its colonies, especially Algeria, which it considered of great importance.

therefore, this colonizer resorted to recruiting its youth in order to strengthen its military power, employing various means and methods.

despite the policy of rejection and the different obstacles, France implemented a policy of persuasion and intimidation towards the conscripts who made numerous sacrifices in a war that did not concern them.

despite the suffering and pain they endured across various fronts, they achieved significant results.

in this research paper, we tried to shed light on the impact of this war on the conscripts particularly and on Algerian society in general.

we will discuss their important roles, assigned tasks, and the resulting outcomes.

our approach in this direction will rely on the analytical method to describe and to take notes about the facts.
