Colonial rivalry intensified on the African interior after the fall of Algeria in 1830.

this rivalry emerged remarkably and almost turned into an international conflict over the most strategically important regions, among which the region of Tuat, which turned into an international issue between the aspirants and the ambitious, these images appeared since the European explorations into the Sahara in the early 19th century.

then, it reached its climax after that Tuat became a refuge for revolutionaries and anti-colonialists.

in this paper, we delve the Tuat issue from its historical roots along the 19th century, and its results by the beginning of the 20th century.

we also attempt to shed light on some historical events, which show the local history in its national and international dimensions.
