The Maghreb novel written in French language was concerned with the relationship between the ego and the other especially by those writers who found themselves forced to write in the language of the other that they did not know otherwise, to express the reality of the ego, which prompted them to write about this relationship and its various representations in the life of the individual Maghreb.

among the novels that bear this obsession, we find the novel the last impression by Malik Haddad, in which the writer embodied the relationship between the ego and the other in the form of an imaginary bridge linking a number of Algerian and French personalities in different ways, ranging between acceptance and rejection.
