Abstract EN

The bank of Algeria represents the monetary authority conducting monetary policy, supervising and controlling banks to achieve monetary stability, using compatible mechanisms with the traditional banking system.

however, the changes in the monetary environment, after the promulgation of Islamic banking law in 2020, raised a wide controversy about the nature of the relationship that links the bank of Algeria with Islamic banks.

thus, we raised the problem of the challenges faced by the bank of Algeria in light of the development of Islamic banking, assuming that the monetary and supervisory tools used do not conform to the nature of Islamic banks, which requires legislative and operational changes.

to answer the problem, we used descriptive research, where the most important results were the need to implement legislative reforms that consider Islamic banks specificity, the development of appropriate monetary tools, operational reforms concerning training human resources and establishing an Islamic money market.
