This study reveals the relationship of cognitive distortions to depression in cyclothymia.

Cognitive distortions and depression were measured using the Cognitive Distortions Scale-20 for cognitive distortions and the Beck Scale for Depression-13, respectively, on a satisfactory sample of 84 patients with chronic arthritis of both sexes (38 males and 46 females), whose average age was estimated at 47 years.

On a healthy sample of 67 healthy individuals of both sexes (36 males and 31 females), their average age was estimated at 46 years.

The results showed an increase in cognitive distortions among those with cyclothymia more than the healthy ones, and the degrees of cognitive distortions among those with cyclothymia were different between males and females.

The differences between the arithmetic means were discussed in the light of theoretical and field studies.
