Abstract EN

The legal protection of Tunisia's archaeological heritage is based on a variety of laws, including: laws directed solely at heritage, laws with provisions relating to heritage, and laws with articles impacting heritage.

Despite the long-standing Tunisian legal system relating to the topic, since the first legal texts are dating back to the early years of the French occupation, this has not prevented many legal loopholes which have accumulated over the years, benefiting those who dare to violate that heritage.

In this research, we have worked to fine-tune the basic concepts underlying the work, to provide a snapshot of the most important attacks threatening the archaeological heritage, and then we have addressed the course of the legal protection of Tunisia's archaeological heritage and the laws currently in force.

After that, we have tried to track some legal problems that reduce protection opportunities
