The Algerian Family Law was amended in 2005 by Order 05-02, which was notably influenced by the CEDAW convention and aimed to achieve equality between spouses.

One manifestation of this influence was the repeal of Article 39, which previously established the husband's authority and right to obedience.

Hence, the significance of this research paper lies in examining the fate of the right to obedience and the right to seek permission following the elimination of the husband's obedience duty and his headship over the family.
