Abstract EN

This study aims to find out the effectiveness of fiscal policy in alleviating poverty, by addressing concepts related to the phenomenon of poverty and the reflection of fiscal policy and its impact on poverty levels, as empirical evidence we applied the study to the data of the Algerian economy during the period 1969 to 2021, and we relied on household consumption as an indicator of poverty, government spending as the most important fiscal policy tool, and per capita real output as a control variable.

Using the Johansen test, the study found that these variables are in a state of common integration, and based on estimates of the VECM model, It was found that the share (coutribution) of government spending in determining future fluctuation of household consumption is 27% and per capita output 31%.

The response of household consumption to the per capita output in the early years is the most important and the second year in particular abut 70% and then declines at 44%, and for government spending the response is constantly increasing to settle at 50%
