Abstract EN

The bank of Algeria represents the central bank in the Algerian banking and monetary system.

this grants it the authority to supervise monetary policy in accordance with the requirements of the overall economic policy and within the framework of the objectives outlined in the law on monetary and lending policies.

its responsibilities include preserving the purchasing power of the currency domestically and internationally, as well as controlling the size and type of the money supply.

however, these objectives are linked to the degree of independence enjoyed by the bank of Algeria from the decisions of the executive branch of the government.

this allows it to make decisions based on changes in macroeconomic indicators, particularly those related to financing the general budget deficit or providing revenues and resources necessary for public interests.

these responsibilities fall under government burdens and are not within the purview of central banking functions.

the aim of this paper is to identify the various roles played by the bank of Algeria in directly or indirectly mobilizing financial resources for the Algerian public budget during the period from 2010 to 2022.

it also seeks to analyze the mechanisms and objectives of these roles in comparison to the legal and economic commitments of the bank of Algeria.
