Abstract EN

In this contribution, I will discuss the various transformations that have occurred in the Algerian economy (agriculture, industry, trade) by indicating the extent of the intensive exploitation of the economic potential of the people for the prosperity of the French colonial economy.

I will also address the tragic consequences of this unjust and aggressive colonial policy on Algerian society, which led to the formation of two classes: the first represents the minority which is made up of Europeans (settlers) who enjoy all the privileges.

, and the second represents the majority of the Algerians, and is deprived of the most basic rights.

This class did not remain inactive, but has protested through its elites press, including the Algerian reformist press.
