Abstract EN

The subject of seismic activity in Algeria during the Ottoman era falls within the search in the history of the crises and natural disasters that swept the region, by returning to the local historical heritage and investing the texts that dealt with of the historiography of this phenomenon and its serious effects and repercussions on the economic and demographic structures.

In view of the important news reports included in these texts, though limited, about seismic disasters, and despite the tyranny of the literary language and the scarcity of statistical data, they represent basic and base sources that are impossible to ignore in order to monitor this phenomenon in its various dimensions.
