Abstract EN

Amongst the aspects of our contemporary national history that is unknown, especially during the colonial era, is the perspective concerning the “traditional chiefs” (indigenous chiefs).

It is this high social status that was at the service of the colonial administration and became an auxiliary in the administration of the country and its “indigenous population”.

An abundant literature- most especially emanating from the Algerian Revolution- never cease to taxing this category of citizens for denying their belongingness and selling it to colonialism to become a whip against their own people.

Surely, there is a lot of truth in this qualification, but certainly there are exceptions! Could Moulay Lahssen Régani be one? A response to this question is the subject matter or even the focal point of this article.
