During the period of French occupation 1830-1962, Algeria witnessed a pernicious colonial policy aimed at dismantling Algerian society.

French colonial leaders encouraged the marriage of European women to Algerians, despite the many negative aspects of this kind of marriage.

However, it has given rise to some positive effects on the militancy of the Algerian National Movement and its pioneers; perhaps the most prominent of them is Émilie Busquant, the wife of Messali Hadj, a French woman who was met by Messali in 1923.

Despite her many activities during the period of political resistance, Algerian historical studies have not paid attention to her biography or militancy.

From there, this we will try in this article to highlight Émilie role in the Algerian national movement, by highlighting her activities in the Algerian movement supporting independence, and her support for her husband, Messali, at various stages of his militancy.
