La traduction des formes interrogatives du Français vers l’Arabe : etude contrastive

Interrogation is a form of communication that has an undeniable particularity because it represents an excellent model of linguistic variation.

Based on Labov's variationist theory, many studies have focused on the variation of interrogative forms in the French language: total, partial, and rhetorical.

Since the translator's main objective is to convey the meaning of the source text, as emphasized by the interpretive theory and the theory of skopos, the function of the interrogative forms used by the writer in the source text must be intelligible to the translator in order to communicate it correctly.

The translator's task becomes more complicated due to the fundamental grammatical and syntactic divergence between the two languages, as is the case with Arabic and French, so we are committed to answering the following question: should the translator render the interrogative forms literally or rather communicate their function by using the forms adopted in the target language?
