Abstract EN

The world is witnessing major changes in many respects, and demographic respect is the most important of them due to its significance and impact on other aspects.

After the world's population explosion after the 1950s, the high birth rate, the low mortality rate, and the high life expectancy have led to a significant increase in the population.

However, recent decades have shown that the world's nations in general and developed in particular are experiencing and will see major crises in the future due to the high numbers of older persons.

The latter will reach one-third at the end of the twenty-first century, requiring all states to put forward realistic strategies for how to address problems arising from society's ageing (economic, health, and social).

This study shows the demographic aspects of the elderly in the world and Algeria, and what the United Nations has done to alert to the danger of this problem if it is not dealt with quickly, as well as Algeria's laws to incite the rights and dignity of this group.
